Achievement Patches Please not that all Achievement Patches are issued during Rank Evaluations or Make-Up Rank Evaluations.
Academic Achievement Patch - This patch can be earned by a student (ages 17 and under) when they are evaluating to every full rank (ie. Orange, Gold, Green, etc...). When a student attends their Red Tip Evaluation their primary teacher gives their recommendation whether the student should or shouldn't evaluate. If the teacher marks "Highly Recommended," that student is regarded as eligible for receiving Academic Achievement honors.
Please note that consistency matters. If a student is an Orange-Advanced evaluating for their Gold Belt, then they are eligible to receive Academic Achievement honors. We will then review their NIP's from both their Orange-Advanced evaluation as well as their current Gold Belt evaluation. To earn the Academic Achievement Patch, a student must have been "Highly Recommended" by their teacher both times.
Adults who are in college or any scholastic environment can earn the Academic Achievement Patch. If you qualify, please notify your instructor.
Outstanding Attendance Patch - This patch can be earned by any student when they are evaluating to every full rank (ie. Orange, Gold, Green, etc...). When a student attends their Red Tip Evaluation they turn in their Attendance Card which identifies when a student evaluated for their Blue Tips. If a student has evaluated for Blue Tips and Red Tips on time, every month, they are regarded as eligible for receiving Outstanding Attendance honors.
Please note that consistency matters. If a student is an Orange-Advanced evaluating for their Gold Belt, then they are eligible to receive Outstanding Attendance honors. We will then review their Attendance Cards from both their Orange-Advanced evaluation as well as their current Gold Belt evaluation. To earn the Outstanding Attendance Patch, a student must have evaluated monthly both times.
Rising Star Patch - This patch can be earned by any student when they are evaluating to every full rank (ie. Orange, God, Green, etc...).
Juniors & Teens (ages 6-17) requirements: When a student attends their Red Tip Evaluation their parents gives their recommendation whether the student should or shouldn't evaluate. This is done by answering 3 questions. Does your child use their martial arts skills inappropriately at home? Does your child practice at home? Is your child behaving in a respectful manner? If the parents identifies that the student is behaving well, practicing at home, and exercising a black belt attitude, that student is regarded as eligible for earning Rising Star honors.
Adults (ages 18 and up) requirements: When a student receives their Evaluation Notice, there is a requirement for Adults who are interested in earning the Rising Star honors. They are required to write a one-page, double spaced, typed, report outlining the following two questions: 1. What is your training routine outside of your regular Kicks USA classes, 2. How are you employing and benefiting from your martial arts skills in your every day life. Students turning in their essay at their Red Tip Evaluation will be eligible for Rising Star honors. (Unlike the Juniors & Teens, no other requirements from past ranks will apply. Therefore, a student earning their Gold Belt will only be judged for Rising Star based on the essay they turn in for that evaluation only.)
Achievement Star Patches - The first time a student earns an Achievement Patch, they receive a patch that identifies the name of the achievement (ie. Academic Achievement). If a student earns that status again, they will receive a Star Patch to be placed beneath the first patch, in this case the Academic Achievement Patch. A BBC Member can earn up to 4 Star Patches beneath each Achievement Patch. A 1st Degree MC Member can earn up to 5 Star Patches beneath each Achievement Patch.
Leadership Patches Please not that all Leadership Patches are issued during Rank Evaluations or Make-Up Rank Evaluations.
SWAT or STORM Patch - When a student decides to become a Leadership Team member, and have meet all of the requirements for doing so, they are awarded the SWAT Patch (Teens & Adults) or STORM Patch (Juniors). To learn more about our Leadership Team, ask your instructor.
Instructor Patch - When a SWAT Team member has become a "titled" Instructor (ie. Bu Cho Gyo Nim or above), they are awarded an Instructor Patch to commemorate that honor. To learn more about our Leadership Team, ask your instructor.
Special Program Patches Demonstration Team Patch - When a student decides to become a Demonstration Team member, and have meet all of the requirements for doing so, they are awarded the Demonstration Team Patch. To learn more about our Demonstration Team, ask your instructor. Demonstration Team patches are awarded during Rank Evaluations or Make-Up Rank Evaluations.
Buddy Stars - Monday and Tuesday of the second week of every month is Buddy Day (see the school calendar). Students are invited to bring a friend to class to participate with them. For every friend a student brings to class, they will earn a Buddy Star. Students can bring up to two friends per Buddy Day. These patches will be handed out at the end of class.
